9 Low return-rate

Many communities are still paying a heavy price for the nuclear accident, with the total return rate of evacuees at only 28% even now.

Since 2014, a series of evacuation orders have been lifted. Even in areas where evacuation orders have been lifted, the rate of evacuees returning home is low. Especially, the younger generation is not coming back, and only the elderly are living in scattered areas.

The figure shows the number of people actually living in areas where evacuation orders were lifted compared to the registered population. People living there include those who have returned after evacuation, and those who have moved in for work related to nuclear power plants and reconstruction projects.
